Hillary at her finest! Gotta love the democrats!

WASHINGTON (AP) - Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Rodham Clinton said Friday that every child born in the United States should get a $5,000 "baby bond" from the government to help pay for future costs of college or buying a home.
Clinton, her party's front-runner in the 2008 race, made the suggestion during a forum hosted by the Congressional Black Caucus.
"I like the idea of giving every baby born in America a $5,000 account that will grow over time, so that when that young person turns 18 if they have finished high school they will be able to access it to go to college or maybe they will be able to make that downpayment on their first home," she said.
The New York senator did not offer any estimate of the total cost of such a program or how she would pay for it. Approximately 4 million babies are born each year in the United States.
Clinton said such an account program would help Americans get back to the tradition of savings that she remembers as a child, and has become harder to accomplish in the face of rising college and housing costs.
She argued that wealthy people "get to have all kinds of tax incentives to save, but most people can't afford to do that."
The proposal was met with enthusiastic applause at an event aimed to encourage young people to excel and engage in politics.
"I think it's a wonderful idea," said Rep. Stephanie Stubbs Jones, an Ohio Democrat who attended the event and has already endorsed Clinton. "Every child born in the United States today owes $27,000 on the national debt, why not let them come get $5,000 to grow until their 18?"
Britain launched a similar program in January 2005, handing out vouchers worth hundreds of dollars each to parents with children born after Sept. 1, 2002.
Earlier this month, Time magazine proposed a $5,000 baby bond program.

Microsoft - DO NOT BUY AN XBOX 360

I always try and tell you the companies I like but today I have to say how disappointed I am in Microsoft. As you may or may not be aware Microsoft set aside a billion dollars to repair bad xbox 360's and increase the warranty from one to three years due to 30% to 50% of their units expierencing problems.

I thought I had gotten lucky and gotten one of the good units which i purchased in July of 2006. The last couple weeks I began having problems with the screen freezing, I hoped it owuld go away, it did not. It culminated yesterday in the unit flashing three red lights which upon research online I determined this was the indicator of a general hardware failure, the problem for which microsoft set aside a billion dollars.

I called Microsoft customer service and naturally got an indian. Of course, you can never get an american customer service associate. Well, the associate determines it is a hard drive problem not covered by warranty and I would need to buy a new hard drive.

So off I went to Best Buy, and a $140.00 later had what was supposed to fix the problem. Well, naturally it did not solve the problem.

So, now an addition to a bad xbox, I now had an opened, useless, new hardrive.

So, back I called Microsoft. First, they told me just to return the harddrive, well Best Buy will not give a refund because it is opened and two, the best they will do is give me an exchange for the same thing. What good does that do?

Second, Microsoft says because this happens only sometimes they will not do the free repair, they want another $100 and it will take four weeks to fix.

So, one DO NOT BUY AN X-BOX 360!

And further, Microsoft has admitted they built a bad product, quite frankly, they should have done a massive recall and exchanged it for a new system or refunded the money.

I had an expierence like this back in the mid 90's with Dell and it was 12 years before I gave Dell a second chance. It will be a long time before I give Microsoft another opportunity.

Buyer beware I guess!

Dude, your not helping your cause much, Vick busted for pot!

Vick tested positive in a urine sample submitted on Sept. 13 — 17 days after entering a plea agreement in federal court on felony charges related to dogfighting. He faces up to five years in prison and will be sentenced on Dec. 10.

As part of his pretrial release, Vick agreed to "refrain from use or unlawful possession of a narcotic drug or other controlled substance."
A probation officer, Patricia Locket-Ross, petitioned Judge Henry E. Hudson to impose stricter conditions on Monday.
In court documents filed Wednesday, Hudson ordered that Vick submit to any method of testing, "for determining whether the defendant is using a prohibited substance." Such methods may be used with random frequency and include urine testing and the wearing of a sweat patch.
In other conditions ordered by the court, Vick is restricted to his Virginia residence every day from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. The home confinement will include electronic monitoring and Vick must pay for the service. The judge also ordered Vick to continue in a substance therapy program and participate in mental health counseling.
One of Vick's co-defendents in the federal case, Quanis Phillips, was taken into custody at his plea agreement hearing on Aug. 17 for admitting to the use of marijuana. He later petitioned the court to be released, but the motion was denied.
Vick was suspended indefinitely by the NFL for violating the league's player conduct policy on Aug. 27, the day he entered his federal plea agreement. The AJC has inquired to the NFL as to whether the positive drug test violates the league's substance abuse policy.
The court order comes one day after Vick was indicted by a Surry County grand jury on two state felony charges related to dogfighting. Vick is set to be arraigned Oct. 3 in the state case.

Prejudice rears its head

Bill O'Reilly said this:

Specifically, he said, "I couldn't get over the fact that there was no difference between Sylvia's restaurant and any other restaurant in New York City. I mean, it was exactly the same, even though it's run by blacks, primarily black patronship."
He added, "It was like going into an Italian restaurant in an all-white suburb in the sense of people were sitting there, and they were ordering and having fun. And there wasn't any kind of craziness at all. "He also mentioned that there was no one in the restaurant yelling, quote, "M-F-er, I want more iced tea." Fox News responded to this chaos by saying, "This is nothing more than left-wing outlets stirring up false racism accusations for ratings. It's sad."

Columnist responds to Gundy

STILLWATER, Okla. (AP) -- A newspaper columnist for The Oklahoman on Tuesday defended her reporting on a story that prompted a tirade by Oklahoma State football coach Mike Gundy.
Jenni Carlson, in a column on the front page, maintained the accuracy of an earlier column critical of the Cowboys' former starting quarterback.

"I will not stand on the sidelines and allow someone to attack my credibility," she said.
Carlson's column Saturday suggested Bobby Reid's demotion was a result of his attitude more than his ineffective play. It stated that Reid, who lost his starting job two games ago, had not always handled his nerves well and his slow starts put the Cowboys in some early holes, including some they dug out of with Reid "wielding the biggest shovel."
It also called Reid the "most talented quarterback" on the team and indicated Reid was "nicked in some games and sat it out instead of gutting it out." Following Oklahoma State's 49-45 win over Texas Tech, Gundy used his postgame news conference to berate Carlson and left the room without taking questions.

On Saturday, Gundy called three-fourths of the column "fiction." During Gundy's news conference Monday, Carlson asked the coach to point out what he thought were factual errors.
"I don't have to," Gundy said.
Carlson asked again, and Gundy said, "I don't have to. I'd rather just let it go."
Carlson said in her Tuesday column that she would like to do the same, had Gundy not questioned her credibility.
"I feel as adamant about the facts in that column as Gundy did in his belief that his player shouldn't have been so scrutinized," she said.
The Oklahoma City newspaper has stood behind the content of the piece and the columnist who wrote it.

Gundy said Monday he hopes that the fallout from his screaming defense of Reid does not overshadow the Cowboys' upcoming game against Sam Houston State the way it obscured their win to start Big 12 play.
Gundy's 31/2-minute speech spread quickly over the Internet, with video Web site YouTube recording more than 75,000 views of the video.
"It just happened because of my feelings for the team and the players and I just felt like it wasn't the right thing," Gundy said. "I certainly didn't do it to receive recognition and I certainly don't want it to take away from this upcoming game like it unfortunately took away from the last game for the team."

The situation has drawn more attention than the result of the game, which included more than 1,300 yards of offense and Tech's Graham Harrell throwing for the fourth-highest total in major college football history.
"I thought it was more important that somebody stand up for a player who couldn't stand up for himself," Gundy said.
Football Writers Association of America president Mike Griffith called Gundy's behavior "completely inappropriate" and suggested the matter "could have been handled in a more private and appropriate matter."

The Association for Women in Sports Media said Monday night that Gundy handled the situation in an "unprofessional manner," and while he has a right to his opinion "his decision to air his objections in the form of a personal attack shows a lack of respect for all journalists."
Gundy said his secretaries had informed him he was getting numerous e-mails and that "the phone won't stop ringing."
"The only thing that matters to me is what I thought was right, and whatever I thought was right is what I said. Other than that, I just have to let it go," Gundy said. "I don't say things for people to disagree or agree with me. I say them if I think they're right."
Gundy said the Cowboys (2-2, 1-0 Big 12), who lost two weeks ago at Troy, needed to focus on Sam Houston State (3-1) because "we're not good enough to overlook anybody." The Bearkats of the Football Championship Subdivision (formerly NCAA Division I-AA) feature former Oklahoma quarterback Rhett Bomar.

"They're doing a lot of things on offense to give people some problems," said Gundy, whose team allowed a school-record 718 yards of total offense against the Red Raiders.
Gundy said Zac Robinson, who replaced Reid, could have been more accurate on some throws in the third quarter but was overall "pretty good." Robinson threw for 211 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 116 yards and a score in his second start.
Reid lined up as a wide receiver for a handful of plays as part of a scheme Gundy said was developed last week. Reid didn't play the previous week in the 41-23 loss at Troy.

"Bobby went through a difficult time because for the first time in his life, he wasn't the guy," Gundy said. "We've had some discussions with him about it. It's no different with Bobby or any other player on any position: If you were a starter and now you're not a starter, you never know when you're going to be back in the game."

Settle down Mike!

Hannah Montana pregnant?

'Hannah Montana' Star Pregnant? The online gossips can be merciless. Today they claim that Billy Ray Cyrus' daughter, Hannah Montana star Miley admitted she's pregnant in J-14 Magazine. Miley supposedly says, "Yes, sadly it's true. 'I'm going to take good care of my baby. I've already gained 7 pounds. I was in real shock when it happened accidentally. I went a little too far. I'm sorry to all of my fans'". "While Miley is still planning on going on tour for her new solo cd, she's currently filming the series finale of 'Hannah Montana'. Even though she's keeping hush about who's the father. Miley's parents are very disappointed in her, and are quoted saying, 'Whatever's meant to happen will happen. I guess it was meant to be this way." No credible site or media outlet has reported this story.
I tend to think she was joking, particularly given its a kids magazine she was talking to, sounds too fishy.

Britney in Atlanta?

Q100 listeners called in and gave us their "listener scoop" Monday morning. Perez Hilton leaked that brit escaped to Atlanta after all the mishaps on th West coast. Britney has been seen here in Atlanta around Phipps Plaza and is supposedly recording in studio today with Dallas Austin.
E! Online reported that Britney's legal team and the few friends and family members she’s still in contact with may be urging her to—once again—check in for treatment for alleged substance-abuse issues.
Britney left Promises in Malibu on March 20. Larry Rudolph, her manager at the time, said she was released after “successfully completing their program.” Now a source says, “She has said she’ll go again. But everyone is worried she won’t go at the last minute.”

Q100 is an atlanta radio station and phipps plaza is atlanta's version of rodeo drive.

Georgia Dogs

Hats off for a great effort in Alabama Saturday night. Dogs philosophy with a young o-line, a soph quarterback, and a young defense has to be to just stay alive every week. Florida again seems to have a leg up talent wise in the east but a good effort against Tennesse could set us up for a potentially top 10 meeting in Jax at the end of October. Likely we would both have one loss as I assume FL will not beat LSU. Georgia finally got smart this year and has two weeks to ready for the annual war. I will say, I don't think we matchup well this year against TN, we can't seem to pressure the quarteback this year and I am worried Ainge will pick us apart. Here's hoping we don't have a letdown against Miss at home this week and ruin any chance at all.

The Atlanta Falcons

Certainly continue to affirm with me they are the worst team in the league. As I have said before this is a team capable of 14 points on offense most weeks and giving up 21 on defense, it will be hard to win 2 games with this group and that spread. The only reason I say two wins is because I think Leftwich and Morton Anderson may be able to close that spread.

Who should be taking the heat for this team? To me, its quite frankly Rich McKay, I have felt for a couple years he is overrated and like many in the NFL, able to live off a past super bowl. Quite honestly, he has been unable to draft any real offensive or defensive talent that is of note. Deangelo Hall has been and continues to be one of the most overrated players in the NFL. And though Roddy White is improving, McKay has not drafted anyone on offense who is star-calliber.

The future? As of now we seem a lock for the 2008 #1 draft pick. No quarterbacks to me are overly impressive and deserving of a #1 overall. If i'm the Falcons, its a no brainer and I take McFadden out of Arkansas and hope Woodson of Kentucky drops to me at the top of the second round. McFadden would solve a lot of problems, he would allow us to control the clock and keep the defense fresh enhansing their ability. Whatever young buck comes in at quarterback will need time, so Leftwich assuming he can stay healthy could be very good. The other thing I would personally like to see is the Falcons renegotiate with Vick assuming he recieves a one year sentence and use him as a slash. In all honesty he owes the Falcons after lying and engaging in the dog fighting. Vick needs to accept that losing a year ends his quarterback career for the most part and accept he would be best as a reciever/running back/special package quarterback.

The worst thing that could happen to this team is start to win.

Rejoined with one loss Georgia, Virginia Tech

Rejoined with two losses - Michigan

This week/last week thoughts - first, friday night should be a great game with West Virginia and South FL going head to head. Team on the rise, Kansas, hard to argue with a team who has given up 23 points in four games. Kentucky may have topped here, they just have a tough road with more talented UGA, TN, FL, and SC teams to play. 9-3 would be an exceptional effort for them. It still appears to me LSU is the best team in the country. The most intriguing team is Florida, so many offensive weapons but how far can the defense take them. Can Auburn put together anything to slow them down Saturday? How do they fare against LSU coming up? Can UGA, Kentucky or South Carolina slow them down later? Looking forward to another good week.

Clooney in a motorcycle accident

Clooney and his new girlfriend were hit by a car yesterday with the new sweetie getting a broken foot and George breaking a rib and suffering road abbrasions to his body. Thats the risk you run riding a bike, an accident is going to be a lot more serious than in a car.

Britney, a big ole mess!

Here's her latest breakdown after learning she was charged with hit and run which carries a maximum of 1 year in jail. A few months back, Britney hit a parked car in front of the papparrazzi and didn't leave a note. What a dumbass!

So, James Woods is on one of the late night shows and reveals he was invited up for a nightcap with OJ and his now murdered ex wife Nicole. He declined. He then goes on to say that a few days later with OJ out of town, Nicole invited him over. Again, he declined. This isn't real classy considering she is dead and can't say her whether this is true or not. What a loser!

Tators teeth look like tators thanks to Britney!

Britney Spears’ 2-year-old son Sean Preston's teeth were looking highly discolored on Thursday while out on a shopping trip with mom to L.A.’s Robertson Boulevard.
One possible reason? “He’s having dental problems because Britney just shoves a bottle of juice in his mouth all the time to stop him from crying,” a family insider told Us Weekly last month. Another source said that, in April, Spears, 25, “asked an L.A. dentist if he would whiten her kid’s teeth!” The dentist refused.
A Spears pal also told Us that the star feeds her children “total crap like Doritos and soda,” and a source who has spent a great deal of time with Spears around the children said Sean’s mom has given him chewing gum, a known choking hazard for toddlers.

Bold - Saw play

Thoughts on past week/this week - GT was really disappointing offensively at home, BC is very good on defense and that quarterback Ryan is very solid, #7 might be pushing it, but they are very good. Texas has some issues. Is Fl that good or TN that bad, not sure. Alabama might be ranked a little too far at 15 but it was a good win over Arkansas, if they beat a good UGA team this weekend I will have a hard time not putting them on the verge of the top 10, a loss and I probably drop them out. At this point, I still place undefeated over just about everything. I suspect in a couple/three weeks, the one loss teams will come back and some of the weak undefeated teams will drop or drop out all together. Games I want to see this weekend, UGA/Bama, South Carolina/LSU, Penn St./Michigan. A lot of quality in the top 2 and then I have questions, FL's defense and how they respond in a close game, Okl, is the quarterback for real or was Miami just weak, Cal's defense, WV's defense, does BC have enough talent, just some of the questions in the top teams. See ya next week!
